Privacy Policy
What we collect
We collect your GitHub username, email address, avatar, and basic profile information when you sign in with GitHub. We also store repos you bookmark, upvotes you cast, featured projects you submit, profile settings, recruiter account details, and intros sent through FoundDev.
Developer hiring preferences
If you opt in to recruiter discovery, we store the hiring preferences you provide, including preferred role, tech stack, location, timezone, years of experience, salary range, work authorization, remote preference, employment type, notice period, bio, and optional profile links. You can turn recruiter visibility off from your profile.
GitHub contribution signal
FoundDev uses GitHub data to power repo discovery, contribution tracking, DevScore, and recruiter matching. We may process public GitHub contribution metadata such as merged pull requests, public commits, repo names, PR numbers, merge dates, commit dates, repo languages, active public repos, and repo health signals. DevScore is derived from GitHub contribution evidence, not from your private GitHub password or private repository contents.
How we use it
We use your information to operate FoundDev, personalize repo discovery, build developer profiles, calculate contribution and matching signals, route recruiter intros, prevent abuse, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal data.
Recruiter visibility and sharing
Only developers who opt in as open to opportunities appear in recruiter search. Verified recruiters may see your GitHub handle, avatar, DevScore evidence, public profile links, structured hiring preferences, bio, and tech stack. Your email is not shared with a recruiter until you accept an intro.
Recruiter intros
When a recruiter sends an intro, we store the recruiter company, recruiter GitHub account, role title, role link, compensation text, message, candidate GitHub account, status, and response timestamp. Candidates can accept or decline intros.
Authentication
FoundDev uses GitHub OAuth via NextAuth. We receive your GitHub username, email, avatar, and OAuth session information from GitHub. We do not receive or store your GitHub password.
Service providers
FoundDev uses service providers to run the product, including Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database storage, Upstash Redis for cache/queue-style data, GitHub for OAuth and API data, Stripe for payments where applicable, and NextAuth for authentication. These providers process data only as needed to provide the service.
Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you signed in and functional cookies required to operate the platform. We may also store local browser preferences for product settings. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate FoundDev, preserve security, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You may request deletion by contacting us. Turning off recruiter visibility removes you from recruiter search immediately.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting hi@founddev.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Updates
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email. Last updated: May 2026.
